Objective To investigate the value of three-dimensional ultrasonographic imaging(3-D imaging) in diagnosis of breast invasive ductal carcinoma. Methods Sixty-three patients with breast invasive ductal carcinoma underwent 3-D ultrasonographic examinations. The characteristics of 3-D imaging, including border of mass, calcification, convergence sign and the 3-D energy reconstruction were analyzed retrospectively and the frequency of common malignant signs was evaluated. Results The 3-D imaging of breast invasive ductal carcinoma had characteristic manifestations in the tumor border, shape, internal distribution, calcification sign, aspect ratio, posterior echo, blood flow density, distribution pattern of blood vessels and convergence sign. The frequency of these signs was different, which lead to a different sensitivity in diagnosis of breast invasive ductal carcinoma. Conclusion The 3-D imaging of breast invasive ductal carcinoma has characteristic manifestations, which may improve the diagnosis of breast cancer.
