Abstract:
Objective To investigate the effect of house dust mite extracts(HDM) on airway inflammation in a murine model. MethodsBALB/c mice received an intranasal instillation of PBS or 3 different HDMs(100μg) on the 0,7th, 14th, 21th, 28th, 35th days. After the final challenge, airway responsiveness(AR), histological changes in the airways and immunological status were examined. ResultsHDM1 induced the most robust influx of both neutrophils and eosinophils into the airways, HDM2 exerted a stronger effect on the induction of neutrophil airway inflammation, while HDM3 only elicited a very weak inflammatory response. ConclusionDifferent origins of HDM might contribute to different phenotypes of murine airway inflammation.
