Abstract: |
Objective To investigate the correlation of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), endostatin(ES) expression and tissue microvascular density(MVD) in women with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).Methods The expression of VEGF and ES in the ovarian tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry SP method and the serum VEGF and ES were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The microvascular density(MVD) in ovarian tissue was assayed by staining of vascular endothelial cells with CD34.Results The expressions of VEGF,ES and MVD in ovarian tissues of PCOS patients were higher than those of healthy women(P<0.05).The expression of VEGF was positively correlated with MVD in ovarian tissues both in PCOS patients and controls (P<0.01).Serum VEGF was positively correlated with blood LH and T levels in PCOS patients, but not correlated with FSH,E and P levels. Conclusion The expression of VEGF is likely to associate with the pathogenesis of PCOS. |
