Abstract:
Objective To investigate the predictive value of triacylglycerol-glucose(TyG) index for cardiovascular disease(CVD) combined with metabolic syndrome(MS) in community-dwelling elderly. Methods The data of cardiovascular health study in Gaoxing Community of Shanghai Pudong New Area from June to October 2013 were retrospectively analyzed. Simple linear regression was used to analyze the correlation between risk factors, trend chi-square test was used to evaluate the change trend of CVD combined with MS among different body mass index and age groups, and the Logistic regression model was used to analyze the risk factors of CVD combined with MS. The ROC curve was plotted to evaluate the predictive value of TyG index for the risk of CVD combined with MS. Results The prevalence of CVD among elderly community residents was 26.84%, the prevalence of CVD combined with MS was 6.68%, and the both prevalence rates increased significantly with age(χ2=40.23, P<0.05). The prevalence of CVD(24.96%) and CVD combined with MS(7.72%) were highest in the age group ≥80-year-old. Multiple-Logistic regression showed that high age, obesity, systolic blood pressure, TyG index and sleep disorders were risk factors for CVD and MS, and the ORs(95%CI) were 1.02(1.00-1.05), 1.17(1.12-1.21), 1.02(1.01-1.03), 3.80(3.00-4.83)and 2.03(1.43-2.90), respectively. The ROC curve showed that the area under the curve(AUC) of TyG index was 0.823, the optimal critical point was 7.33, the sensitivity was 84.8%, and the specificity was 68.9%. Conclusion The old age, male gender, obesity, increased systolic blood pressure, sleep disorders and higher TyG index may increase the risk of CVD combined with MS in community-dwelling elderly, among which TyG index has a high predictive value for risk of CDV combined with MS.
